Najma
Najma privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
Najma is made by JinBot Studios (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the Najma app does with your information. Questions or requests: privacy@jinbotstudios.com.
The short version
- Your location never leaves your phone. Prayer times and the Qibla are worked out on the device.
- Your prayer log is backed up to your account, so it can come back on a new phone.
- No ads, ever. We never sell your data or share it for advertising, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- You’re in control: download everything, or delete your account and all its data, from inside the app.
What stays on your phone
These are kept only on your device and are never sent to us:
- Your location, whether found by GPS or a city you choose, and its coordinates.
- What you enter when you start: your name, year of birth and gender. They’re used to estimate missed prayers and to tailor tracking, on the phone.
- Your notification, display and language settings.
Notifications are scheduled on your phone; we don’t send them from a server.
What we store, and why
When you first open Najma it creates an anonymous account for you. It isn’t tied to your name, email or phone number unless you choose to link it with Apple or Google. With that account we store:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your prayer log: which prayers you logged, when, and whether on time, later or in congregation | To show your history, streak and badges, and to restore them on a new phone |
| Your tradition (Sunni or Shia) | To apply the right prayer schedule |
| Days you paused tracking, and the reason you chose (for example a period, illness or travel) | So paused days don’t break your streak |
| Your qada estimate, plan and the prayers you’ve made up | To keep your plan and progress |
| Ramadan fasts and the reason for a missed fast, Quran reading progress and night plans | For Ramadan mode and fasts to make up |
| Duas you save | To keep your saved duas |
Some of this reveals your religious practice, and some (such as a period or pregnancy) relates to your health. We treat all of it as sensitive. It is used only to run the app for you. We use it on the basis of your choice to record it, and you can delete it at any time.
If you link your account with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, if they share it, an email address (Apple may give us a private relay address). We use these only to let you sign in on another phone.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold through the App Store or Google Play, which handle payment. We never see your card details. Our subscription service, RevenueCat, receives your purchase history and your anonymous account identifier so the app knows which features are unlocked and can restore your purchase.
Analytics and crash reports
- Analytics (PostHog, EU servers): which screens are opened and a few app events, such as finishing setup. They belong to a random install identifier, not to you. We don’t record your location (IP-based location is turned off), the content of your prayer log, or anything typed.
- Crash reports (Sentry, EU servers): when the app crashes, the error, the app version and basic device details, so we can fix it. They don’t include your IP address or personal details.

They process data on our behalf and under our instructions. Some of them may store data outside your country; where the law requires it, transfers are protected by standard contractual safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as you use Najma. When you delete your account, it and everything stored with it is deleted from our servers and from the phone. Analytics events and crash reports are kept for a limited time by those services and are not linked to your account.
